In those isolated cases where the body has been all but irrevocably destroyed but the Custodian’s mind remains intact and their will to survive undimmed, internment within the cold and unyielding body of a Dreadnought is the next step. To this purpose, the few Dreadnoughts of the Legio Custodes are as singularly advanced as their other wargear, outfitted with weapons and systems artificer-made by the servants of the Imperial Court. At the time of the outbreak of the Horus Heresy, the most widely employed was the Contemptor-Achillus, a general battle unit which combined phenomenal strength and speed with the echoes of the interned Custodes’ own unmatched martial skill.
A fearsomely-beweaponed example of Dreadnought technology, this model is bristling with both impressive detail and offensive capability. It’s exceptionally posable, featuring options for open and closed hands – meaning the included Dreadspear can be modelled in a single-hand or two-hand grip, with shoulder ball joints and elbow joints for almost infinite poses. There are also different foot options, meaning the model’s weight can be placed on either.
Not content with just the Dreadspear, this Dreadnought also features a choice of two wrist-mounted storm bolters, Infernus incinerators or Adrathic destructors. The sweeping lines and large surfaces of the armour are broken by detailed Imperial iconography – this model will yield fantastic results for the painter, whether dedicated to picking out details or using shades and drybrushing to bring them out.
Rules for this model can be found in The Horus Heresy Book 7 – Inferno
